Munich

Munich is a city located in southern Germany and is the capital of the Land of Bavaria. It is built on the banks of the Isar, which is one of the largest tributaries of the upper course of the Danube. It is the third largest city in Germany by population, after Berlin and Hamburg. It is a hub for transport, road, rail and air transport, as well as one of the most famous shopping centers in Europe. In addition, Munich is home to two of the best universities in Germany, the University of Munich and the Technical University of Munich.

Munich is very easy to walk and has a plethora of excellent routes. In the city center there are several of the major attractions of Munich, which you can switch from one to the other in a relatively short time, either by using public transport or on foot. You should not miss the Royal Palace of Munich, as well as the English Garden (10 15 minutes away), which is larger in size than New York’s Central Park and London’s Hyde Park.

The center of Munich also has several squares, which are walked with great pleasure. From the spectacular Marienplatz, Karlsplatz and Odeonsplatz to Viktualienmarkt Square with the open market. In addition, if you are a fan of impressive churches, Munich will not disappoint you. You can visit the church with the two tall towers that goes by the name of Frauenkirche, the small, baroque style, adorned with gold leaf, frescoes and stucco Asamkirche, the oldest church in Munich with the jewel-decorated relics of Saint Mundina and the tower with a view, the Peterskirche. Entrance to all three churches is free.

If you are a beer lover, you should not forget to pass by the historic Hovbroichaus Beer Garden. There you can taste dishes from the local cuisine, as well as traditional Bavarian beer.
